Abstract:At energies from near threshold to 25 keV, clectron induced Fe and Cu K shell ionization cross sections have been measured. Correction has been made for the influence of substrate of thin targets on ionization cross sections using the bipartition model of electon transport. The obtained cross sections are found to be in good agreement with existing data and are well reproduced by the empirical formula of Green and Cosslett down to the vicinity of threshold energy.
