Abstract:An overview is given about the progress of high frequency pulse tube cryocoolers (HFPTC) in the world and this shows the maturity of HFPTCs in prototypes and products. Very low temperature using multi-stage version, high cooling power and better linear compressors are new research directions. The medium-size PTCs for potential future replacement of commercial Stirling cold fingers developed by author are reported. Six prototype coolers, including inline, U-type, coaxial three kind geometries, were designed and finished for operation with the AIM SL200 compressor or Leybold Polar SC7 compressor. The COP of 4.35% at 80K with 200W of input power is achieved and the lowest temperature of 32.4K has been reached. The performances could satisfied many potential application.
