| Abstract: | The first and second pressure derivatives of the elastic moduli of fused quartz have been determined by ultrasonic measurements of the sound velocity as a function of pressure. The second derivatives are positive in sign and are larger in magnitude than those in crystalline materials. The data are used to calculate the equation of state and the volume dependence of the Grüneisen constant. |
