Bidiagonalization of oscillatory matrices |

| Abstract: | We prove that an oscillatory matrix is similar to a bidiagonal nonnegative matrix by means of a totally positive matrix of change of basis. New characterizations of oscillatory and nonsingular totally positive matrices in terms of similarity are provided. |
