Multi-Product Newsboy Problem with Two Constraints and Nonzero Lead Time Outsourcing

A multi-product newsboy problem with resource constraint and budget constraint was investigated, where production allows for being outsourced to deal with possible shortage of limited capacity, while the maximal amounts of outsourcing products available are given and the strategy of nonzero lead time outsourcing is involved. A cost-minimization model was constructed to formulate such a problem, and the structural properties of the model were analyzed. On the basis of the theory of optimization, the feasible direction methods were applied to solve the problem, and the numerical results show the validity of the model and the efficiency of the solution method.
