Minimal kernels of Dirac operators along maps

Abstract:Let M be a closed spin manifold and let N be a closed manifold. For maps urn:x-wiley:0025584X:media:mana201800069:mana201800069-math-0001 and Riemannian metrics g on M and h on N, we consider the Dirac operator urn:x-wiley:0025584X:media:mana201800069:mana201800069-math-0002 of the twisted Dirac bundle urn:x-wiley:0025584X:media:mana201800069:mana201800069-math-0003. To this Dirac operator one can associate an index in urn:x-wiley:0025584X:media:mana201800069:mana201800069-math-0004. If M is 2‐dimensional, one gets a lower bound for the dimension of the kernel of urn:x-wiley:0025584X:media:mana201800069:mana201800069-math-0005 out of this index. We investigate the question whether this lower bound is obtained for generic tupels urn:x-wiley:0025584X:media:mana201800069:mana201800069-math-0006.
