Abstract: | ![]() The evolution equation for the nonlinear Kelvin-Helmholtz wave envelope with its carrier wavenumber near direct resonance is formulated directly by using the nonlinear dispersion relation. The stability of a wavetrain is examined, and the long-time evolution for an arbitrary initial condition is studied through inverse scattering transforms. |
