Abstract:
Collisional energy transfer between laser-excited atomic tin and both inert-gas and diatomic collision partners has been studied Relative populations of collisionally populated tin levels were determined For certain levels, diatomics transferred nearly two orders of magnitude more population than inert gases; for other levels there was nearly equal population transfer by both groups of partners.
