Abstract:The kinetics of methane reforming with carbon dioxide over a nickel catalyst MCD-1 was studied at 650~850oC, CO2/CH4=1.7 and atmospheric pressure in an integral and an internal recycle gradientless reactors respectively The experimental data were analyzed with exponential function equation The results indicate that the reaction rate of methane is only related with the partial pressure of methane and the reaction is nearly first-order both on the fine powdered catalyst (0.098~0.125mm)with negligible effusion effects and the Rashing Ring commercial catalyst(16 mm in I.D. 6mm in O.D., 11 mm in height) on which the reaction rate is controlled by internal diffusion. The average activation energy for fine powdered catalyst is 129.2kJ/mol. However, it is 65.6 kJ/mol for Rasching Ring commercial catalyst. The effectiveness factor is about 5.7% and the effective thinkness as 0.142 mm.
