| Abstract: | reaction: see text] N-Monosubstituted carbamates are cleanly converted to amides under treatment with trialkylaluminum. This reaction involves an aluminum-assisted internal delivery of alkyl groups. It can be applied to new and mild protecting group strategies for alcohols. |
