Abstract: | In 1974 in the UK, at a time of perceived anxiety in the OR community, the author enunciated six principles with the aim of helping to ensure the effectiveness, and thus survival, of in-house OR teams. The present paper explains the thinking on which these principles were based and explores how far they have stood the test of time, as well as their relevance today in a very different environment. |
