Gallic acid monohydrate

In the crystal structure of the title compound, 3,4,5‐tri­hydroxy­benzoic acid monohydrate, C₇H₆O₅·H₂O, the gallic acid mol­ecule has an intramolecular hydrogen bond involving a pair of hydroxyl groups, and it is also linked to a water mol­ecule by a three‐centre (bifurcated) OW—H?O hydrogen bond. The packing of the mol­ecules is stabilized by intermolecular O—H?O and C—H?O hydrogen bonds.
