Abstract: | ![]() The motion of shock waves against a steady flow in a channel of variable cross section is considered. Situations for which Chisnell's hypothesis [1] or a quasistationary flow model are valid are considered. The problem is of interest, in particular, in connection with the investigation of the starting of shock wind tunnels.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 4, pp. 103–110, July–August, 1981.I am very grateful to A.
