The structure displays intramolecular O—H...O hydrogen bonds, as well as intermolecular O—H...O and C—H...O hydrogen bonding; the O—H...O hydrogen bonds, forming R₄⁴(8) rings, and dipolar nitro–nitro interactions account for the high density of 1.839 Mg m⁻³.
