A pseudopotential theory for self-diffusion in cubic metals

Abstract:A simple model for vacancy self-diffusion in metals is used to formulate the migration energy in terms of pseudopotential theory. Applications are made to Al, Li, Na, and K using local pseudopotentials. The results are in especially close agreement with experiment for Al, where the vacancy diffusion mechanism is known to occur.
