Synthesis and Characterization of New Chiral Lanthanide Complexes and Application in Catalytic Asymmetric Synthesis

Abstract:A series of chiral lanthanide complexes were synthesized in good yields by the reactions of lanthanide triflates (Ln=Yb, Sm) and tartaramide. Those complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR and MS. The catalytic asymmetric Friedel-Crafts reaction between 2,6-dimethylphenol and ethyl glyoxalate was examined using those complexes as chiral catalysts. Complex 1 gave the best enantioselectivity with the ee value up to 90%.
