Validity of the impulse approximation in meson-nucleus scattering

An equation for the meson—bound-nucleon amplitude is derived which allows us to examine corrections to the impulse approximation. We also comment on an approximation where only the nuclear ground-state energy is kept in the propagators. In a model calculation the corrections to these approximations are found to be important at low energy.
