Finite element methods for nonlinear shell analysis

Abstract:
Summary Finite element methods for nonlinear shell analysis are analyzed using both the minimum potential energy and the mixed formulations. Existence and local uniqueness of both the exact solutions and the corresponding finite element solutions are proved. Error bounds, which are of the same order as for the corresponding linear problems, are established.
