Abstract: | ![]() Coulomb correlations in transition metals are treated self-consistently within the alloy analogy of the Hubbard model, taking into account the full degeneracy of the d-band. Numerical calculations are performed in the case of nickel: the calculated optical excitations spectrum exhibits two satellites corresponding to d9 and d8 configurations. Finally, we comment on the core level spectra. |
