Abstract:
Alpha-particle irradiation of an enriched ytterbium target and 10,11B irradiation of a holmium target were used to populate excited states in 171Hf. Rotational bands built on the 72+[633],52−[512]and12−[521] role=presentation> Nilsson states were followed up to levels with spins 292,252and292 role=presentation>, respectively. The observed energy levels and transition probabilities are compared with the predictions of the rotational model and with the results of a Coriolis coupling calculation.
