Rotational states in 171Hf

Abstract:Alpha-particle irradiation of an enriched ytterbium target and 10,11B irradiation of a holmium target were used to populate excited states in 171Hf. Rotational bands built on the 72+[633],52[512]and12[521] role=presentation>72+[633],52[512]and12[521] Nilsson states were followed up to levels with spins 292,252and292 role=presentation>292,252and292, respectively. The observed energy levels and transition probabilities are compared with the predictions of the rotational model and with the results of a Coriolis coupling calculation.
