Abstract: | The photochemical reaction of Mn2(CO)10 with cis-,trans-2,4-hexadiene yields three tetracarbonyl-η3-enyl-manganese complexes with E-2,4-hexadien-1-yl, EE-3-hexen-2-yl EZ-3-hexen-2-yl ligands. In an unexpected side-reaction, heptacarbonyl-μ-(2,5:2–5-η-2,4-hexadiene-2,5-diyl)dimanganese is formed. This novel dinuclear manganacyclopentadiene complex was characterized by C and H elemental analysis, IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy, and by X-ray structure analysis. |
