| Abstract: | The reaction of diethyl [(methylthio or arylthio)methyl]phosphonate with N-chlorosuccinimide (NCS) affords (α-chloromethanephosphonate(5), which can be converted into a variety of O,S-thioacetals of formylphosphonates(2) by reaction with alcohols. |
