Calculation of cross sections for penning ionization: He(2S,2S) + H(1S) |

| Abstract: | Cross sections for ionization of hydrogen atoms by metastable helium atoms are calculated using the best published values for the complex potential. The present cross section for the singlet metastable is quite different from previous determinations. The validity of the JWKB approximation has been verified. |
