| Abstract: | The knoevenagel condensation of carbonyl compounds with active methylene compounds was carried out in the presence of alumina as catalyst. This reaction afforded high yield in mild reaction condition. Sygnificant improvements of the reaction rates can be achieved when the reaction mixture are sonicated. |
