| Abstract: | Ring closing metathesis (RCM) using Grubbs' 1st generation catalyst with cis-[L(2)Pt(CH(2)CH(2)CH[double bond, length as m-dash]CH(2))(CH(2)CH(2)CH(2)CH[double bond, length as m-dash]CH(2))] yields a platinacyclooctene which can be hydrogenated to the platinacyclooctane, L(2)Pt(CH(2))(7) [L(2) = Ph(2)PCH(2)CH(2)CH(2)PPh(2) (dppp) or Ph(2)PCH(2)CH(2)PPh(2) (dppe)] in high yield. |
