| Abstract: | The combination of Lewis and Bronsted acids catalyzed the addition of beta-ketoesters to cyclic diene. Lactonization occurs in situ to afford fused bicyclic lactones directly. The catalysis provides an expedient route to bicylic lactones via a zip-process. |
