Catalytic transformations of 1-octanol and 2-ethyl-1-hexanol over oxide catalysts, 1. Transition metal oxides as catalysts

Abstract:A comparative study of 1-octanol and 2-ethyl-1-hexanol transformations over silica supported NiO, MnO2, Cr2O3, Fe2O3, and ZnO has been performed. Zinca containing catalyst was found to be the most active in dehydrogenation and dehydration of the alcohols studied. ZnO dehydrogenating activity increased with supported oxide load.
