Abstract: | Chain‐end free volume theory is extended for studying the glass‐transition temperature (Tg) as a function of conversion in hyperbranched polymers. Tg is found to have a non‐linear inverse relationship to the molecular weight for polymers obtained by self‐condensing vinyl polymerization (SCVP). During the monomer conversion process, Tg decreases with the increase in molecular weight (P) in the low conversion range, then levels off in the high conversion range. |
