Abstract: | The influence of the crystal surface on the first order Raman spectrum has been theoretically examined, using the microscopic theory of the Raman scattering of the light with finite wavelength. It is shown that the Raman spectrum of the first order consists in this case of continuous bands. In addition to these bands some frequencies that belong to the surface localized modes out of these bands can appear. In the case of the Rosenstock model of the rocksalt structure with equal masses of ions, the solution is carried out analytically. |
