New set of orthogonal protecting groups for the modular synthesis of heparan sulfate fragments

Six strategically chosen monosaccharide building blocks, which are protected by a novel set of four orthogonal protecting groups (Lev, Fmoc, TBDPS, and All), can be employed for the efficient synthesis of the 20 disaccharide moieties found in heparan sulfate.
