Functionalized gold nanoparticles (Au-NPs) capped with polyoxometalates were prepared by a simple photoreduction technique. The negatively charged capped Au-NPs were deposited on a poly(vinyl pyridine)-derivatized indium-doped tin oxide electrode via the layer-by-layer technique. The modified electrode exhibits the characteristic electrochemical behavior of surface-confined phosphododecamolybdate, and excellent catalytic activity.
