Abstract:The heat generated during torsional oscillations of round aluminium tubes is reported. Static mechanical data for the material are also presented and a correlation of mechanical and thermal energies is obtained. The experiments demonstrate the necessity of including a coupling effect between the temperature field and the deviatoric components of strain.
