| Abstract: | Abstract The stereochemical courses of phosphoryl transfer reactions in aprotic solvents and thiophosphoryl transfer reactions in protic solvent have been determined. The extensive racemisation observed in both instances is discussed in terms of metaphosphate and thiometaphosphate intermediates of significant life-times. |
