| Abstract: | Let GLn(F) be the group of all non-singular linear transformations acting on the n-dimensional vector space V over the ground field F- We give in the present paper a group-theorectic characterization of the stabilizers in GLn(F) of the sub-spaces of V. On the basis of such a characterization, the automorphism group of GLn(F) is then determined through geometric consideration. |
