Application of the ocean environmental information database on the basis of GIS in ocean environmental information visualization analysis

A new method about using database, GIS and remote sensing techniques to build an integrated system for handling, analysis, visualization and management of ocean environmental information is discussed. The general purpose of the system is for ocean environment information management while its main goal is ocean data analysis. The system database is mainly based on oceanographic investigation data, supplemented by satellite ocean color data. Remote sensing image processing and GIS techniques have been combined within the system. The application shows this system could be used as a powerful visualization analysis tool in ocean environmental information analysis and management.
