Vibrational relaxtion in excited electronic states of aromatic hydrocarbons

Time-resolved experiments are reported Showing kinetic evidence for vibrational relaxation of electronically excited molecules in solution at room temperature. The experiments involve higher electronic states of 3,4,9,10-dibenzpyrene. Data are consistent with slow vibrational relaxation (≈ 15 ps), similar to that for ground state species.
