Abstract:Constant temperature pulse reaction (CTPR) technique was used to study the reduction of NO by CH4 on a series of supported Co and Ni oxide catalysts. These catalysts which are poor catalysts for the direct decomposition of nitric oxide , are good catalysts for nitric oxide reduction by methane. Complete reduction of nitric oxide was obtained at 400 over La2O3 supported catalysts. The conversion of methane increases with the decrease of concentrations of methane and nitric oxide. For the same carrier, supported Co oxide catalysts are more active than supported Ni oxide catalysts for the title reaction.
