Abstract:	A route to the carbon skeleton of the proposed structure for heteroscyphic acid A was developed utilizing a Mn(III)/Cu(II) mediated oxidative free-radical cyclization and nucleophilic addition to (3-methylpentadienyl)iron(1+) cation.
