| Abstract: | Starting from saccharin sodium,meloxicam was synthesized in four steps with a yield of 43.5%. A byproduct in the methylating reaction was separated,purified and determined to be of the dimethylated product for the first time.Recrystallization was taken to purify the wanted monomethylated product. |
