Authors:Stone   J. A. R.
Affiliation:J. A. R. Stone is a Principal Lecturer in Mathematics at Sheffield Hallam University. He has written a number of paper (plus one book) in the use of mathematics in modelling scientific and engineering phenomenon. Latterly, through involvement with a degree in Visualisation, he has developed an interest in the mathematics used in computer graphics.
Abstract:This paper describes how parametric cubic splines and cubicBezier curves may be used in designing a two dimensional shape.A simple aerofoil shape is designed using both methods. Themathematics is described and the shape drawn using Excel. Theeffect of varying parameters is shown in both methods.
