On the equilibrium crystal habit as predicted by the Gibbs-Curie principle

It is pointed out that there is no physical mechanism for the change, dictated by the Gibbs-Curie principle, from a nonequilibrium habit of a macroscopic faceted crystal to the equilibrium habit. The reason why this principle is inapplicable to such a crystal is established.
