The phosphorescent state of dibenzothiophene

The ESR study of phosphorescent o,o'-bridged biphenyls has shown that the nature of the heteroatom has little effect on the molecular properties of the lowest triplet state of these molecules. This observation allows us to assign the symmetry of this state and to propose an electronic scheme for the phosphorescence in this family of aromatic compounds.
