| Abstract: | In this paper, the stability problem of a floating body on a viscous fluid in finit domain is investigated. The eigen-equation =0 is derived for a small oscillation around a equilibrium state of the system including floating body and fluid. The stability criteria for a equilibrinm state and every oscillation mode are obtained. It is shown that the viscosity in fluid makes a stable system become an asymptotically stable one. Furthermore, two theorems of functional differential are given, which are the base of the approximate method for finding the eigenvalues. |
