Variational method for spin waves in disordered ferromagnets

A variational method for spin waves in a disordered ferromagnet is described and is shown to give same results as obtained by a Green function method. The results of this calculation are applied to rare earth di-aluminium alloys. The spin wave dispersion relations in these alloys as a function of concentration are predicted.
