Sticking probability of diatomic molecules

The problem of destruction of a negative ion in a slow collision with a metallic surface is considered. It is shown that the electron exchange between the atomic and metallic potential wells is the most important destruction mechanism for the negative ions. The electron transition probability of this process is calculated by a method which provides asymptotically exact result.
