A numerical algorithm for taking the logarithm of a complex function with a minimum width of the logarithm spectrum

Abstract:Solution of acoustic problems often requires calculation of logarithms of complex functions. In the majority of cases, the width of the logarithm spectrum should remain minimum. In this paper, we present a numerical method for taking the logarithm of a complex function, which ensures a minimum width of the logarithm spectrum. The boundedness of the function spectrum is considered as a condition of the applicability of the method. We prove the sufficiency of this condition.
