| Abstract: | Abstract The rotational contour of the origin band of the 274 nm absorption system of benzoxazole vapour has been analyzed and found to be type A. The transition is thus A 1A (π π ?) → X ～ 1A with the transition moment lying close to the long axis of the molecule. Geometrical changes upon excitation are small. |
