摘 要: | ![]() A strain of Brevibacterium viscogenes n. sp. 74-230 utilizing crude oil or heavy liquid paraffin as carbon source produces an exopolysaecharide, which is applicable in petroleum industry. Behaviour of the purified polysaecharide in polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and in ultracentrifugal analysis seems to be homogeneous. This polysaccharide differs in composition from the reported polysaceharides and is composed of D-glucose, D-mannose, D-galactose, L-rhamnose and D-arabinose with molar ratio of 4:3:2:1:1/4. It contains 0.5—0.7% pyruvic acid. Its sedimentation coefficient is 10S, intrinsic viscosity 6.3 dl/g, partial specific volume 0.775 ml/g, molecular weight 3,488,000 and [α]_D~(20) 19.8. Its IR spectrum is similar to that of other polysaecharides.
