Semiclassical theory of optical rotation. Application of a closed form solution of the optical activity problem

A previously derived closed form solution to the problem of an atom interacting with an externally supplied classical circularly-polarized electromagnetic field is extended to the case of a freely rotating molecule. It is shown how the conventional Rosenfeld expression for the optical rotation parameter may be derived from the present formalism.
