The discrete coagulation equations with an elastic collision describes the dynamics of cluster growth when clusters undergo binary collision resulting either in coalescence or in an elastic collision leaving the incoming clusters unchanged.Each of these two events may happen with an a priori prescribed probability depending for instance on the sizes of the colliding clusters.The possibility of the occurrence of gelation is studied in the present paper.
